Bio-Chemical Report
CHONDROITIN SULFATE
Medical report prepare by Tim Cochran for Dr. Pravin Kini and Medical Staff in India, April 30, 1997.
SUPPORTS THE CONNECTIVE TISSUE, INCLUDING LIGAMENT AND TENDONS.
Cartilage and Connective Tissue are capable of repair, but they rely on certain critical nutrients for their support and rebuilding and doing just normal maintenance. Chondroitin Sulfate is one of the needed materials that greatly assists with and plays a very important role in the body's production, maintenance and repair of cartilage and connective body tissues. It is important to be remembered that the absorption rate drops as we age and that the needed materials become less and less available to our metabolic system. Because of this joint flexibility, strength, and mobility decrease as we age.
We have found this product very helpful in studies with patients suffering from Arthritis and other forms of Autoimmune disease that attack the joints and connective tissue. The dosage amount is figured based on the age of the patient, how long the patient has had the disease, the present state of the disease within the patient's body, and some other ratios. All are relative to the dosing amounts given. Normally there are three or more 250 mg. capsules given three different times per day or evening.
The Connective tissues found within the tendons, ligaments and blood vessels have shown the most benefit from using this product. These connective tissues are the base structure for the skeletal system and with in certain organs and it is also the connecting unit and support between organs and other tissues. We see Autoimmune diseases which attack these connective tissues, thus causing serious problems, both short term and long term for the heath of the patient. Chondroitin Sulfate, along with Glucosamine Sulfate helps and the response time is very prompt after ingestion of this medication, normally within 48 to 72 hours.
Cartilage, on the other hand, is not a connective tissue, but it is living tissue composed mainly of water and collagen, which is a group of compounds called "Glycosaminoglycans" of which one of the main one's is Chondroitin Sulfate. There have been numerous studies, beside our own, which have shown that oral doses of Chondroitin Sulfate will help and assist the body in repairing damaged cartilage.
But cartilage repair is a very slow process. That's because cartilage doesn't have a main blood supply, which makes it harder to get the required building materials to the damage tissue in the first place. In addition, the body's ability to produce it's own Chondroitin Sulfate does become impaired with age. Thus the vast majority of Autoimmune patients have very little or no Chondroitin Sulfate being produce in their own body's. This results in a diminished capacity for the cells to retain moisture and thereby transportation of this very important cellular nourishment throughout the cartilage cellular system just doesn't happen.
Chondroitin Sulfate binds most of the water in the connective tissue, giving it elasticity and a cushioning effect. It binds this water through an electrical charge, forming a thick gelatinous like material that actually acts like cement to bind the cells together and lubricates the joints and the "Bursas" which are the small cushioning sacs between the tendons and the bones. It also works in tandem with Vitamin C in the production and stabilization of collagen, which is the chief fibrous protein component of connective tissue. It is strongly advised that it be used with most cases of Autoimmune disease. We strongly recommended this product NOT be used by anyone suffering from coronary artery, cardiovascular or heart disease.
