OMEGA-3 AND OMEGA-6 ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS (EFAS)
Report prepared and written for Dr. Pravin Kini, for the Bangalore Cardiovascular Medical Test Trials, April 12, 1997.
One of Natures richest plant source of Omega-3 fatty acids and an excellent source of other essential fatty acids is extracted from Flax Seed Oil. There have been numerous medical studies on the positive role that Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty acids perform inside the body. Flax Seed Oil has bee verified to help and support the following inside your body:
FlaxSeed Oil is needed in the Cochran Regiment because of its high content of essential fatty acids (EFAs) which is derived from a grain base. These are the positive fats, and they include Omega-3 and Omega-6. Flax Seed Oil is even richer in Omega-3s than fish oil (EPAs and GLAs are also part of the Cochran Regiment, they derive from fish oil and are also advised and required.)
Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils are absolutely essential to good health. However because our bodies are unable to produce them, they must be obtained through our diet. The essential fatty acid found in flax seed oil helps form the membranes surrounding every cell. They are a main component of the myelin sheath. They support the IMMUNE SYSTEM FUNCTION, and help in the metabolism of cholesterol. Omega-3 Fatty Acids have been shown to promote the production of beneficial (Good) Prostaglandins, which reduces the production of negative (Bad) Prostaglandins, including those involved in the inflammatory process.
Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances responsible for regulating many of the systems within the body, which include the Cardiovascular, Immune, Hormonal and Reproductive Systems.
Because dietary fat is so prevalent in todays meals, the vast majority of people assume that theyre getting enough. They are getting enough fat all right! They are getting way too much of the wrong kinds of fat - Highly Saturated Fats which are the worse kind of fats to consume! They are not getting nearly enough essentials fats. This is a known Fat Fact! Saturated Fats counteract the benefits that are provided to the body systems by EFAs. Therefore in the vast majority of diets, the overwhelming amount of Saturated Fat intake, totally off-sets and destroy any possible beneficial assistance from whatever small amount of EFAs that are eaten in ones diet.
EFAs are routinely processed out of foods. Their adsorption and bio-availability rates drop off quickly by either stress that one is experiencing or/and they decline as part of the aging process.
