NIACIN

Revised reported for Dr. Pravin Kini - April 17, 1997.

The "B" Vitamin Niacin:

1) Supports and enhances healthy LDL and HDL Cholesterol and Triglyceride levels.

2) Offers the benefits of niacin - without the side effects of severe skin flushing.

Niacin, one of the most stable of the "B" Vitamins, is the common name for two compounds, nicotinic acid and nicotinamide. Niacin plays many diverse and critical roles in the body, both supplying energy and maintaining the integrity of all the body’s cells. Although niacin is synthesized in the liver from the amino acid Tryptophan, supplementing the body supply becomes necessary as we age and the need only increases the older one gets in years.

A healthy balance of HDL and LDL cholesterol is essential for cardiovascular health. Age health of the body and one’s diet can influence how well this balance can be controlled. Niacin can assist in controlling the body’s production of VLDLs, or very low density lipoproteins, which are the proteins used by the body to create LDL's, which are the "Bad' Cholesterol which destroys the arteries of the body.

Niacin assist the cardiovascular system in reducing the blood pressure, besides lowering the LDL’s levels found in the blood. Niacin helps and supports the immune system by assisting in the betterment - efficiency of the metabolic rate. It should be used in all Hypertensive and Cardiovascular disease patients. A new type of Niacin - "Inositol Hexanicotinate" in combination with "Magnesium Ascorbate" and "Chromium Niacinamide/glycinate" does not react like store brought Niacin, in that it is "Flush Free." It can be taken on an empty stomach, as it doesn’t produce a flushing or rash/redness of the skin, when consumed in large doses, it still results in the sudden release of prostaglandins. This newer form of Niacin is what I strongly advise and personally use with out the problems of flushing of the skin. Which for me would last for 15 to 20 minutes. This is no longer a draw back or a serious problem with taking Niacin now that this more improved form is available.

Vitamin "E" must be used at the same time, as it helps protect the liver against stress which can be caused by the higher doses of Niacin required by the body to fight off age related diseases. Inositol Hexanicotinate is molecularly bonded to Niacin, which in working together to slow down the absorption of nicotinic acid, thereby eliminating the flushing or redness on the surface of the skin.

The compound also contains a Chelated form of Vitamin "C", which is Magnesium Ascorbate. Recent research has shown the importance of this element to cardiovascular health. The Magnesium Ascorbate is utilized as the vitamin C source based on recent research emphasizing the importance of magnesium for cardiovascular health. Also included in the element compound is pure chelate Chromium Niacinamide Glycine. Research Studies have shown this form of Chromium to be more readily absorbed than Chromium Picolinate and other forms of chromium. Working together with Niacin, Chromium helps the vitamin produce its beneficial effect.
